Ibidun Adelekan is a Professor of Geography at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She has 30 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her research interests focus on the human dimensions of global environmental change; including the vulnerability and resilience of human-environment systems to climate change in cities and coastal areas, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction. She is coordinating lead author, chapter 9 (Africa) of the IPCC AR6 WGII Report (Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability), member of the Expert Review Group, Race to Resilience (R2R) campaign of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); member, EU-AU High-Level Policy Dialogue Expert Working Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy and a member of the Steering Committee, International Geographical Union Commission on Global Understanding. She is a member of the editorial board of the international journal, Climate Policy.
