Patricia Awa Taiwo joined the Department of Sociology, University of Ibadan on the 18th of April, 2008. She was confirmed and promoted to the post of lecturer 1 on the 1st of October, 2014 after bagging her Ph.D.  Her area of specialization is Medical Sociology with interest in other research areas such as gender (with special reference to women studies), sexuality and health generally. She teaches courses such as medical sociology, comparative health care deliver, social psychiatry, elementary sociology with basic methodology, occupational health among others. at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is an executive member of Nigerian Anthropological and Sociological Association (NASA), a member of African Sociological Association (AFSA), Midwest Sociological Association, America School Health Association (ASHA), etc. Patricia Taiwo is a recipient of 2010 Mac Arthur Foundation doctoral research grant, University of Ibadan.
