Born on the 18th of January 1956. Married to Matilda; and has a son-Lawson. Had his early live and education in a Otukpo, in Benue State, in the Middle Belt of Nigeria, where he hail from.

  


Academic Attainment/Teaching: Otained a B.Sc. (Hons) degee in Geography and Regional Planning, from the University of Calabar in 1983; M.Sc. Population and Manpower Planning from the University of Jos in 1990; and Ph.D. in Population Geography from the University of Ibadan in 2006. Teach Population geography, Medical Geography and Agricultural Geography. Have over twenty years teaching experience in tertiary institutions, seven years of which is at the University level as at 2007.

 

 

 


Research Interest: Human Migration; Population-Environment nexus; HIV/AIDS studies; and population studies generally. His most recent major research work is ‘A spatial Analysis of Rural Out-Migration and its Consequences in Benue State, Nigeria’, which earned him a Ph.D. in 2006. In the study, he employed the Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model, within the concept of the New Economics of Labour Migration, to measure the multiplier effect of migrant remittances on some productive economic activities in a rural area of origin in Benue State, Nigeria. One of his most recent articles is ‘Sustainable Issues in Flood Management in Nigeria’.

 

 

 


Scholarship: He was a visiting scholar to the Department of Geography University of Iowa, USA in the Spring of 2002. He was attended several national and internal conferences.
